danny byrd tunes

Welcome to DannyByrd.com the unofficial fansite! This website has been created for you to learn a bit more about the main man Danny  and to allow you to listen and comment on his awesome, distinctive D&B tunes.

Coming from the picturesque town of Bath in the West Country, Danny Byrd has been amongst the Drum & Bass scene since the late 90’s. He is rightfully credited within peers of the dnb scene as a pioneering producer of soulful, liquid funk.

Danny’s first release was “Manhattan” on DJ Ron’s Piccasso imprint in 1998. In 2000 he joined Tony Coleman aka London Electricity at the Hospital Records camp where he really made his mark with the singles “Do it Again” and “Changes”. This was the start of a unique and fresh sound in D&B with influences  from soulful house, garage and R&B.

Later in 2000 he expertly remixed London Elektricty’s “Wishing Well”. The remix took d&b to new heights with Todd Edwards style vocal chopping and was a firm favorite with liquid funk don Fabio. Other notable remixes from that time were Tungsten and Morph’s “Expand your Mind” on the Sound in motion and a classic remix of High Contrast’s “Music is Everything” on Hospital Records.

In 2002 Danny switched focus to working outside of D&B on Garage/Breaks and producing R&B. He returned to Hospital in 2003 and 2004 on the Weapons of Mass Creation Compilations. 2005 brought a album deal to the table from Hospital, and saw the release of “Soul Function” and “Doghill” with great support from more mainstream avenues and got support from Annie Mac, High Contrast, Bailey, Bryan G, and loads more!!

Danny’s  new record deal with Hospital allowed him to work with a select few top labels outside of Hospital, and in 2006 he worked with the exceptional V Recordings with “French Quarter”, Total Science’s Advanced imprint for “Round & Round” and the Spearhead record label with “Rise Again.

In 2007 Mr Byrd has gained a reputation for a DJ to watch playing locations as far as New York, Paris, Vienna and closer to home in London at the superb Hospitality nights.

Danny Byrd’s debut LP dropped in early 2008 and from them to this day he has been taking his distinctive style of D&B production on a level!…. In 2009 his track Red Mist VIP, tore up the UK and further afield and reached number one on the UK Dance Chart on the week ending 25th July 2009. With massive support from radio 1 he became a household name and the D.J on everybody’s lips! This single was followed up with another smash the 7th February 2010, his remix of Liquid’s Sweet Harmony gave him his first success on the UK Singles Chart, making #64.
